200 Members and Growning!
Big news for the Bayport -BLUE POINT CHAMBER of Commerce.This past week,membership hit the 200 mark. The newely opened Bluepoint Deli &
catering,located on Montauk Highway,Blue Point holds the prestigious positionas the 200th member.Owners,Vic and Francesca DIGILIO are thrilled to be part
of our community. The proud parents of four children, they reside in Medford.Francesca, who was born in Sicily, previously ran a successful catering business.
Vic was a former truck driver. All the food is homemade, and looks delicious.Immediately, you can't help but notice theoverstuffed rice balls! The Deli has
been completely renovated complete with a new kitchen and is open 7 days a week.Word is.... members of the BLUE POINT FIRE DEPARTMENT were thrilled that the eatery
was reopened, and quite a few of the fireman were in for well-wishes and lunch last Saturday.Seth Needelman,Chamber President and owner of th Fish Store in Bayport
couldn't be more pleased to welcome the new Chamber Members, and wished them much success. With regard to the Chambers membership success he said,
"When Ed (Mickey) Reailly and Grace Horton agredd to co-chair the membership committee we had 63 members; I'd like to thank Ed and Gene for all their work.
The guys did a great job!"Strober Building Material Centers, Inc., has a new manager, Val Stauer...Val began his career with Strober some five years ago at the
Bayport location and he's happy to be back! His connection to out community is a family affair, his Father: Val Stauer Sr. was a Bayport Postman for over a decade
beginning in the early 1970's when the post office was still on Middle Road. Val's Mom was also a secretary in the Bayport-Blue Point School District. "I'm glad to
be back, I hope you'll come in and see me soon", said Val. Bayport-Blue Point Little League in full swing especially theconcession stand, Alison Karppi,
President of the Ladies Auxiliary tells me last Saturday they actually ran out of food... throughout the day they sold over 400 hotdogs,150 hot pretzels, over 100
hamburgers, and made a food run during the day for more candy...can't keep the "Big League Chew" on the shelves. Kerry Jensen, Of Bayport, a 10 year old 5th Grader
at Prince Of Peace Regional School in Sayville took first prize, in her aga category, at the annual science Fair, she is now qualified to participate in the Long Island
wide Brookhaven National Science Competition on May 5th. The Gazette will now have a new feature every month called "what's New". All you local businesses, community
