Islip "Goes Purple" Tree Lighting

On Sunday August 30 the chamber tree at Bayport Blue Point's Chamber Park was lit in purple for International Overdose Awareness Day and National Recovery month . Pastor David Czeisel opened the ceremony with a prayer. Councilman Neil Foley, Legislator Rob Calarco, Councilwoman MaryKate Mullins and Legislator Anthony Piccirillo attended in support of this cause. International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event that aims to raise awareness that overdose death is preventable and to reduce the stigma associated with drug-related death. You will see purple all around our community.

Two towns one community. “GO PURPLE”
